Canadian Adaptive Snowsports (CADS) is proud to celebrate and honor Jerry Johnson for his remarkable 50 years of service and unwavering dedication to adaptive snowsports in Canada. Jerry's passion, vision, and contributions have shaped the foundation of CADS and revolutionized the world of accessible skiing for individuals with disabilities.

A Legacy of Achievements

Jerry Johnson's incredible journey began in 1961, when he took on the role of Ski School Director at Sunshine Village in Alberta. During his tenure, he became deeply inspired by the idea of teaching young individuals with disabilities to ski, a progressive vision that has had a lasting impact on countless lives.

In 1976 – The Founding of Canadian Adaptive Snowsports (CADS):

With a team of devoted volunteers, Jerry Johnson officially established CADS. Together, they developed innovative teaching methods and adapted skiing equipment to empower individuals of all abilities to participate in the sport. These foundational contributions remain at the heart of CADS’ mission and approach to accessibility in snowsports.
